A new discount store for brand-name bargain hunters opened recently on Valley Road in Berkeley Springs.
Berkeley Springs Deals & Steals, located across from Clark’ s, opened in April under a bright yellow awning.
New items including home goods and decor, clothing, toys and accent furniture are on display inside and out. Discounts of 50 percent and more are marked down off retail prices from brand-name stores.
"This is Target type stuff," said Brenda Cramer of Berkeley Springs about the merchandise, which is of higher quality than that found in the dollar stores.
Cramer owns and operates the store with her husband Ron, a truck driver who works weekends at the store.
"Come out to see us and let us save you money and a trip over the mountain. We want to grow with our community and provide great products to everyone," said Ron.
The shopping experience at Berkeley Springs Deals & Steals is ideal for anyone in need of some retail therapy. Three, five and ten- dollar bins filled with toys, pillows, linens and accessories line the store. New inventory comes in every week or so, according to Brenda.
Casual women’ s fashion hangs from racks, tempting shoppers with color-coded sale tags. Brand-name children's clothing and shoes are aplenty. A pair of joggers and tank was a bargain for $10 apiece. A clay accent lamp was one of the said deals and steals. Think TJ Maxx when it comes to the selection of home decor. Scoring a large machine-washable dog bed for $20 warrants a return trip. Berkeley Springs Deals & Steals is located at 1763 Valley Road. The store is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday through Sunday, closed Monday through Wednesday.
